Meet the Staff of Garry Gribble’s Running Sports


Our sales people are problem solvers with years of experience in fitting proper footwear, clothing and accessories. We take pride in providing both new and regular customers with individualized service, informed, courteous attention and top-quality name-brand products at competitive prices.

Our motto, “Run by Athletes Serving Athletes,” means that the people serving you at Garry Gribble’s Running Sports are actively involved themselves in running, cycling, swimming and fitness training. Many of the staff are runners, who have the background to help beginners and competitors alike be properly equipped for their sport. All our staff complete rigorous test on our products to keep us most knowledgeable on what we sell. We stay up-to-date on new products because we use the products we sell. We are committed to your fitness.

Our service and adviceGarry Gribble’s Running Sports staff will fit you and your family with shoes for your special needs. You may try on as many models as you like before making your selection.

We explain the performance characteristics of our athletic clothing and demonstrate how to use our accessories.

We especially enjoy helping beginners get off on the right foot with their sport, and are happy to share our insights and suggest other sources of information. If you are sidelined by injuries or illness, we can help you plan your return to activity.

We have many handouts on some of the more common running and walking injuries.

Garry Gribble, Owner, has run 105 marathons, and completed many triathlons; including the Hawaiian Ironman. Steve Daley, General Manager and fast masters runner. Ask Steve how to avoid injury and keep running strong. Jane Tompkins, many times an age group winner, Jane is well known in the Kansas City Running Community. She has a ton of knowledge and information about running and is doing a great job for GGRS!
David Williford Craig Sullivan Eladio Valdez III
David Williford, store manager at Garry Gribble’s in Overland Park, KS. Member of the GGRS team since 2000. Runner for over 20 years from 5K to marathon. Proud father of Keegan. KU grad and former Naval officer. Craig Sullivan, co-manager and the guy who makes sure we have shoes to sell. Would rather be skating. Eladio Valdez III, need I say more??? Coach of the BEST running program in the country, Runner’s Edge.
Frank Bolbecker Fritzi Jerry Johnson
Frank Bolbecker, one of the fastest master’s runners in KC who has been with GGRS since 1999. Fritzi, 70 year-old master’s runner who is probably the best known woman runner in KC. Jerry Johnson, KU graduate and food buyer, has been running for over 32 years, including several marathons, and has over 7 1/2 years of experience at the Stoll Park store.
John Winslow Megan Carlson Grant Catloth
John Winslow, longest term person at GGRS and well known by all the running customers. Megan Carlson Brown, school teacher, runner’s Edge participant, and busy doing a marathon in every state. Grant Catloth- Grant is a former Baldwin HS and Johnson County CC runner. He is now attending KU studying Political Science. Ask Grant about his gardening skills.
Tim Mezger Gary Braley Joe Meyers
Tim Mezger, a graduate of KU, Ironman, works part time and is one of our slower runners. Gary Braley, a very speedy person running, selling, and driving, and well liked by all. Joe Meyers, a retired public school administrator, has been running for over 30 years. He has completed 50+ marathons and half-marathons, and continues to enjoy running on the “really cold days.”
Mike Potts Heathe Ellenbaas
Bill Buckland, Florida native, father of two kids and a great shoe problem solver. Mike Potts , Mike is back from Coos Bay and he is truly our shoe fitting ‘Jedi’. Heather Ellenbaas, Heather is pacer for Runner’s Edge and usually works at the Stoll Park Store. She is a golf pro by day and runs almost daily too. Heather just ran the Chicago Marathon.
Troy Fitzgerald Joe Schur
Glenn Daniels, Coach at Olathe East and a great shoe person. Troy Fitzgerald wants to direct your next race. Joe Schur, runs and coaches and runs and coaches and does a great job for us!
Tyson Willoughby Elizabeth Keaveny
Tyson Willoughby, Tyson is a KU Cross Country and Track Alum. Tyson loves to fish and is our Garmin expert who can help you with questions about the Forerunners and the website. Jamie Kennedy, a mom, housewife, and busy going to JCCC and selling running shoes. Jamie is a Texas girl! Elizabeth Keaveny, was a cross country and track star at St. Teresa’s Academy in Kansas City. She now runs for the University of Portland.

Dave Hansen , Handsome Dave is one of our fastest runners and coaches track at St. Teresa’s Academy. Karen Moran Redlich, Cross Country Coach at St. Teresa’s and our great female role model. Glenn Bohannan, Our resident triathlete expert, is known and liked by all in the triathlon community.
Alan Sikes , a triathlete and a really nice guy! Joe Graf, is a senior who has run many marathons in his life. Joe is a former air traffic controller who can provide on the spot running and training knowledge. Katie Koester, bubbling with personality, this Runner’s Edge participant is also a shoe knowledge expert!
Ellen Young Susie Fagan
Connie Abbott, is one of the fastest women in town. Connie ran for SM South and KU. Ellen Young, Ellen can be seen working on most weekends. She is in charge of the annual Red Dog Run and can be seen at most Dog Days workouts. Susie Fagan, longtime Lawrence native and GGRS customer turned employee. Susie has 2 kids with her husband Mark and enjoys marathon training with her Runner’s Edge friends.
DJ Hilding Paul Heffron
DJ Hilding, Former Lawrence High and KU Track/Cross Country runner and is the manager at the Lawrence location. Curtis Pfaff, manager of the Ward Parkway location, splits his time between the store and No More Homeless Pets KC.
Paul Hefferon , Paul is a former NCAA D1 All-American in XC and Track and is now part of the Hansons-Brooks Distance Project in Rochester, MI.

Bryan Munjak, Our running ‘father’ who recently completed the Disney Half-Marathon with his wife. Steve Sell, Coach Sell has 37 years of cross country/track coaching experience and has been a competitive runner since 1963.
Sarah Flogel, Former Iowa gal who is a fitness trainer working for herself. Sarah Coaches Cross Country and Track at Aquinas.
Candice Rhodes Bobby Sindorf
Scott Conner, He is coach, dad, and teacher by day. Scott is also our best golf frisbee player. Candice Rhodes, Recent graduate of Dartmouth College. Candice is a teacher and a long distance runner. Bobby Sindorf, graduated from KSU and is pursuing a Doctorate in Chiropractic. Bobby has been running and competing in marathons and road races for 13 years.
